Normal?

First of all thanks for all the hugs. I needed them. To answer a few questions, yes I still have goats. I have Stella and Dottie who are Nigerian dwarfs. DWARFS. They weigh about 30 pounds each and on tip toes come about up to my waist. Hopefully Dottie will have a successful "date" next month and we will have babies in the Spring.

Ben and Jerry were standard dairy goats. Ben weighed in at about 170 pounds and stood over six feet tall when he jumped up, which he did a lot, on me. They were also wethers, so they couldn't make babies or milk so their purpose here was as pets and big freaking pets at that. With all my endeavors, I just couldn't chase them down the road one more day. They have gone to an awesome home and they now have a purpose of keeping their friend, Mr. Horse, company, so I am happy. I don't know the horse's name, 'cause I was kind of trying to keep from crying when they were being looked at and loaded up. The crate on the back of the truck had a stencil on the side that said, Live Baby Elephants. I don't even want to know what that means.

So while I am missing my goats and Dottie is too, she is still looking for them, I need to form a new normal and keep on keeping on. So though this will probably cause my 12-year old daughter, Little Girl, to never speak to me again, I need to ask you all a question. Am I the only one that sees the resemblance?

giggle...giggle

Smiles from the farm,
Lisa

  1. I'm sorry that you had to get rid of your goats. It is so hard to do. However, it is such a pain to chase animals every day. Then you are afraid that they might get hit. The other day we saw a ewe on the side of the road. We stopped and tried to get her back into her pen so she wouldn't get hit by cars. Then this crazy old bat on a riding lawn mower came up and started yelling at us to leave her sheep alone. Picture that in your mind and it would scare you too. Or hopefully make you laugh. Take care. Much love and prayers.

  2. LOL - yeah, there's certainly a resemblance to Bevis (or is that Butt-head?) and Robert Pattenson, now that you mention it.
Sorry to hear about your goats; but I know how it is. I take care of some goats and one of hers was really huge and aggressive and would jump up from behind and knock me down. NO fun. You guys sound like they are going to be super happy with Mr. Horse, and Mr. Horse will be happy, too.

  3. Living close to Forks, I try to forget about the vampires. I suppose there is a certain resemblance there. Goats, you know, have the chupacabra to worry about. Perhaps there is a resemblance there as well. :)

  4. Yes Lisa, there is a resemblance and I think it's somewhat scary. I'll take butthead any day. OMG, WHAT does that say about me??!! Sorry to your daughter......As for the question, is that normal: I don't know anything about goats except I have heard that they eat everything they can find, so that being said, it's normal.....isn't it!!?? Either way, it's dang cute. Char

  5. As hard as it is I think you made the right decision. I used to think that I was the only one that could take care of my animal in the standard that they were accustom to, but I have learned over the years this just isn't true. If you find them a good home they will do fine and in some cases even better. I have met some very nice people when finding a home for an animal.
I too see the resemblance but leave it to you to discover it:)

  6. Bahahaha! I so want to show that picture to my 17-year-old. Wait, she's sitting right here. "Absolutely not", she said, without even cracking a smile.
