Ladies Night...

On Thursday night the ladies heard that the local watering hole was offering .99 mojitos.

The drinks were a little watered down and the action a bit slow, so Fat Annie led the gals in a solemn rendition of "Thriller" and they called it an early night.

Compost happens...

My garden is in shambles.

However, this is growing in the compost pile. Black beans and squash. How lovely and lush they are. Next year, I'm just throwing the seeds in the poop pile and walking away.

Stupid gardening.

Poor, poor pitiful me...

This is not good...
R.I.P. poor chicken.

And this is not good...

Someone...I won't mention names (Dottie, Ben and Jerry) ate the tops off all of my peas, every one.

They are all now confined into their field and Dottie is not speaking with me.

My tomatoes died. I think we have had too much rain. Not good.

Something dug up my lettuce...rabbit? squirrel? Who knows, but it's not good...

Slugs ate all my broccoli except for this one. Definitely not a good thing.

But then there's Stella

She's so good.

She flew up to Heaven on the wings of angels
By the clouds and stars and passed where no one sees
And she walks with Jesus and her loved ones waiting
And I know she's smiling saying
Don't worry 'bout me.

How blessed was I to have been given this grandmother who wore aprons, made cookies, bought me stuff that my mother wouldn't, let me drive when I was 16 and didn't even wear her seatbelt, drank tea in some company and beer in others, wasn't afraid to tell me she loved me with one breath and smack me upside the head with another, never remembered the grandkids names on the first try and gave up with the greats, just called them in the order they were born, the oldest girl, the baby etc...

The last words we said to each other were "I love you." The last time I saw her in the hospital I realized that she had the most beautiful hands.

I'll miss her.

Man, you're ugly...

No offense...

I'm sure you have a great personality.
Oh gosh, don't eat me...

You're actually quite lovely! Yikes!

The winner is...finally...

Sorry about the long wait for the winner. I was supposed to post Sunday night but I have had a sick kid and no sleep...wah, wah, wah.

So without much fanfair or any further ado...

The winner was chosen by asking Little Girl to pick a number between 1 and 19, with 19 being the number of commentors...

And she picked...

NUMBER 10

The tenth person to comment was...

Larkspur Funny Farm!!!

Yay, Go check out her blog. She made syrup with dandelions. I KNOW! If I hadn't just commited mass dandelion homicide (herbicide?) I might try it. Well with my lawn all I have to do is wait two days and I will be in a sea of yellow once more.

So anyway, congratulations and send me your address and I will get your napkin holder right out to you!

Smiles,
Lisa
