My new favorite house...

If houses were husbands, I would be a horrible cheating wife. I just totally fall, head over heels, crushing big time, in love with houses. Weird. This is my new one . It is in Calais, pronounced Kallus, not Calay. It's a Maine thing. Don't ask. I would very much like to live in this house and would you look at the price? Holy crap. Calais, is just not very prosperous. The road that it's on is pretty busy too. You get to Canada through Calais. But, oh it is so pretty.

Smiles from my stupid LITTLE farm that has no gingerbread trim or porches (I KNOW, ironic isn't it?)

  1. Oh gosh...I feel like I'm cheating along with you! $159,000 seems like a good price, NO? But 1 1/2 bathrooms is NO GOOD!

    LOVE IT!

  2. Too bad for you. I'm going to steal it out from under you, but you can come over for a slumber party.

  3. I heart old houses with character too...if it's any consolation though, the taxes were like $4000/yr. on this one back in 2007. Yikes!

  4. 15 rooms, with 8 of those being bedrooms....I love it. I have always wanted a huge house. I am living in a four room house and am screaming for room. I noted the real estate ad said "in unspoiled Washington County"...yes, that's because Washinton county is the poorest in the state. And how about rt 9 to Calais..the "airline"? Have you ever spotted another car besides yours on that highway? So desolate. Well, I am rambling now..Love the house! Hugs, Kathleen

  5. Nah, you wouldn't want that house. What's to love, 8 bedrooms? All you would be doing is cleaning all day long, no time to enjoy anything else.........are you kidding me??!! I love that house. I would move in a second, but bet the taxes would eat you alive there. Too bad, but you can still dream can't you, and that won't cost you anything, Char

  6. Gosh. Even I would like to live in that house. I could eat Peanuts in the best of style in a place like that!

  7. What a beautiful house! I like to LOOK at it, at least, but I also wouldn't really like to clean all those bedrooms..

  8. I'm trying to imagine how they cram 8 bedrooms into 3700 square feet. Must be all the missing bathrooms. Also? $159K?????????? Are you kidding me? Of course, I'm looking through California-colored glasses.
