Poor, poor pitiful me...

This is not good...
R.I.P. poor chicken.

And this is not good...

Someone...I won't mention names (Dottie, Ben and Jerry) ate the tops off all of my peas, every one.

They are all now confined into their field and Dottie is not speaking with me.

My tomatoes died. I think we have had too much rain. Not good.

Something dug up my lettuce...rabbit? squirrel? Who knows, but it's not good...

Slugs ate all my broccoli except for this one. Definitely not a good thing.

But then there's Stella

She's so good.

Smiles from the farm,
Lisa

  1. Hi Lisa, I have been thinking about you and your loss. I hope you and your family are doing well. I know you are probably just putting one foot in front of the other. Maybe it's good that you have so much to clean up, replant and take care of in your garden. It may help take your mind off of missing your loved one. Sadly, my cat brought inside the house this week, two, yes two, birds and ate them. The feathers in your picture remind me of what I had to clean up off my diningroom rug!!!! Darn cat. His proper name is Linus, but I call him Poopie, now you see why. I am sorry about the veggies too. Could you put a cardboard collar around the broccli and keep the slugs off that way. We used to do that for strawberries and it worked. Looks like you will have to build a wire cage for your other veggies. Maybe drape them with some chicken wire......Thinking of you, Char

  2. Of course that little goat is good...she is all spotty like me. Spotty goats are very good goats, don't you think? Chickens, on the other hand, are bird brains.

  3. Love your new blog banner. We have had a lot of rain...my snapdragons are dying. Well, at least you have that adorable little goat face to look at, to cheer you up. Big hugs, Kathleen

  4. I planted 6 broccoli plants and lost 3 to slugs before I learned from a friend that slugs do not like seaweed. Got time for a trip to the coast? She also told me they hate eggs shells too...lots and lots of egg shells...here, I have more seaweed than eggs though. It's sad to see what happened after all your hard work in the garden and of course poor little chicken too. Happy you have little goat to cheer things up!

  6. Hi Lisa, so sorry things are out of whack right now. We, too have had way too much rain for the good of the garden...and losing chickens...and guineas...well, it has been a bad summer for that, too! Your precious goats are adorable, though, they would make me smile, too! Hope things brighten up a bit for you....
    Farmgirl hugs!
