She flew up to Heaven on the wings of angels
By the clouds and stars and passed where no one sees
And she walks with Jesus and her loved ones waiting
And I know she's smiling saying
Don't worry 'bout me.

How blessed was I to have been given this grandmother who wore aprons, made cookies, bought me stuff that my mother wouldn't, let me drive when I was 16 and didn't even wear her seatbelt, drank tea in some company and beer in others, wasn't afraid to tell me she loved me with one breath and smack me upside the head with another, never remembered the grandkids names on the first try and gave up with the greats, just called them in the order they were born, the oldest girl, the baby etc...

The last words we said to each other were "I love you." The last time I saw her in the hospital I realized that she had the most beautiful hands.

I'll miss her.

  1. My deepest condolences on the very painful loss of your beloved grandmother.

  2. Lisa, I am so sorry to hear your sad news. I will carry a prayer for you and your family through this time of a heavy heart. I never thought I would get over the loss of my grandmother. One day at a time, one foot in front of the other......Char

  3. So sad to read of your loss. May you be comforted by your memories of your dear grandmother.

  4. I am so sorry for your loss. The goatmother was blessed with such a wonderful grandmother. May you have peace in all your wonderful memories of her.

  5. This is the most beautiful sentiment EVER! I lost my beloved Grams last December. She was 2 weeks away from turning 92. I miss her more than I can say. She was my friend and confidant. Although blind from Glaucoma her mental prowess never wavered... Knowing she is in heaven now brings me such peace.

This was such a loving tribute to your grandmother. I can tell you share her heart!

Blessings to you this very day.

  6. This is beautiful Lisa. I got all teary eyed reading this. I'm sorry for your loss.
