On Saturday, the husband and I got into the car without children, without diapers, without Ipods, video games or car seats. It was weird. We didn't even know where we were going, we just handed the little kids over to his parents and ran out the back door, jumping onto the hood and sliding in through the windows like the Dukes of Freakin' Hazzard.
We headed east-ish. I say this, 'cause I have no idea if that's right. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong. We stopped in Bucksport which is about 30 miles from our house. They built a bridge a few years ago and one of the big things holding up the bridge has an observatory at the top. It is actually one of three such observatories in the world. It takes 51 seconds to get to the top, though SOMEONE wouldn't humor me and time it because SOMEONE may have been frustrated that the juice that I had bought at the store fifteen minutes before had a weird ingredient in it that I laughed at and then read the back after my heart started racing and I couldn't shut the hole in my head up. The weird ingredient was coffee beans. Yeah, I can't drink coffee-I get jumpy. So anywhoooo...This is the big bridge thing....It's 400 something feet high.
Here is the view at the top....
It was pretty cool. But the coolest thing was that in the pamphlet that they handed you at the gate, there was a newsletter that said that GHOST HUNTERS was coming to Fort Knox to do an investigation. AND they were looking for people with first hand paranormal experience and you can't lie about it 'cause they'd know. No one lies about the paranormal activity they experince on GHOST HUNTERS, no one. So I decided then and there that I would go to Fort Knox (which you can see from the bridge thingy) and find a ghost so I could be on Ghost Hunters. I told this to the husband. We were in the 51 second elevator with two other people and they were staring at the wall like no one was talking really fast about ghosts. Which was weird 'cause the husband was doing the same thing.
So we went down the elevator and over to the Fort because I guess if we didn't then someone wouldn't shut up or something like that which was repeatedly mumbled and sighed about. I was just too excited to get the details.
Here are the pictures I took inside the fort, you will see an eerie connection in each and every picture....
Did you see it? No? Well that's because there's no such thing as ghosts. Or so that same mumbling, sighing voice kept huffing in my ear.
Finally I took a video...sure that something would get caught on tape...
Sooo, yeah, I guess I won't be telling Grant and Jason about the ghostly apparations that showed up on my film. I got nothing. And can someone tell me why ghosts always wear Victorian clothing? People have been dying for a very long time before the Victorian era and fore quite a while after, so how come they never show up in double-knit polyester trousers and a Garfield-I Heart Lasagna T-shirt? These are the things that I think about when I am slipped cofee beans in my juice.
Oh yeah, then we left and went and saw some boats and the ocean and stuff...
Smiles from the farm,
Lisa
Oh man, I've been wanting to go there (Ft. Knox). Haven't been since I was a kid. And now I need to find out when GHs will be there, maybe I can snag a trip there afterall. Victorian dressed ghosts are so much more refined though, I would never admit to seeing one with a t-shirt on... Sounds like a fun day to me! ~Lili
ReplyDeleteOh, man! I can't believe the Little UnDead missed this adventure!!!! He is going to be SO disappointed. You got me thinking, though, I wonder if there are ghost goats out there? Hmmmmm....
