It...This is something I struggle with a bit myself. It is one of the reasons I never give the meat wethers names. The way I look at it is, the animals I have raised for food I KNOW they had a good life. Until they got to weight they had plenty of food, good care and a large pasture with grass and sunshine, I can't say I know that about the food I buy from the grocery store. There is a good chance that animal might have had a horrible life in a feed lot or small pen so as long as we are going to eat meat I feel like we are promoting humane farming by raising our own food. We also know what is in it or rather what is not in it, antibiotics & other drugs.. because we raised it.
